Warning:
If you have any doubt as to whether you can confortably do the following
procedures yourself, hire a reputable satellite dealer to do this for
you.
FEATURES:
Infrared Remote Control. Direct access satellites are A, D, F, G, M,
S, T and W for Cband, K and Z for Ku (for Ku-band you will need an external
C/Ku switch). Parental Locks via the Menu however a password will be
needed to defeat/remove them. 1 set of RCA Audio / Video output jacks
and 1 set of RCA RCA Audio / Video input jacks and a 70 Mhz Loop output/input.
Receives stereo audio only on the VC channels. No Favorite Channel capability
but
audio frequency changes can be stored. Also has auto-peak for dish position
and skew (they call it polarity though). There was an option available
called the Chaparral Remote Eye. This was a transmiter for using the
remote
control in different rooms.
ADVANCED
FUNCTIONS:
A number of features are available in the Advanced Features Mode. To
enter the Advanced Function mode press A, F on the remote, then use
the UP or DOWN ARROW to select the desired function, then press ENTER
to perform that
function. Here are some Advanced Functions that can be directly accessed
via the remote:

PROGRAMMING A SATELLITE
- If
you start with the receiver on the correct location of the new satellite.
Press the TUNING
MODE
button one time. You will see DISH
POSITION
and SIGNAL
STRENGTH
displayed on the screen.
- On
your remote control, press the SATELLITE
button then letter
and number
of the satellite. Use the Channel
UP
or DOWN
button to locate a picture, if needed, press the AUTOTUNE
button to automatically adjust the
dish position and skew (polarity) When the beep sounds and the picture
has improved, use the tuning tool (or a toothpick), and press the
recessed STORE
button to save the satellite at this position. When reprogramming
satellites you have 5 seconds to press the store
button or the dish will move to the old stored position, if the dish
moves, press the UP
or DOWN
tuning arrow once and the dish will stop. If the dish moved too far
from
where you started, use the UP
or DOWN
tuning arrows to adjust the dish position back).
- Press
VIEW
or the TUNING
MODE button
until you return to the normal
viewing mode.
RENAME
A SATELLITE
As an example we'll rename S3 to W3.
- Start
with the receiver on S3/5, confirm the channel as Univision. Press
the TUNING
MODE
button one time. You will see DISH
POSITION
and SIGNAL
STRENGTH displayed
on the screen.
- On
your remote control, press the SATELLITE
button then W,
then 3.
Use the tuning tool (or a toothpick), and press the recessed STORE
button to save G9 at this position. On most models you will get the
message "TUNING
VALUE STORED"
to confirm it is stored. (when reprogramming satellites you have 5
seconds to press the store button or the dish will move to the old
stored position, if the dish moves, press the UP
or DOWN
tuning arrow once and the dish will stop. If the dish moved too far
from where you started, use the UP
or DOWN
tuning arrows to adjust the dish position back).
- Press
VIEW
or the TUNING
MODE
button until you return to the normal viewing mode.
SKEW
ADJUSTMENTS (This receiver refers to skew as polarity):
Press
the TUNING
MODE
button until POLARITY
is displayed on the screen. Press the AUTOTUNE
button and wait for the beep. The skew can be adjusted manually rather
that automatically by using the TUNING
UP or
DOWN
buttons
while in polarity mode. Press STORE
if you wish to keep the adjustment.
