PROGRAMMING
A SATELLITE:
As an example we'll program the GE-1 satellite. First though
you must first decide what you want to name it. The majority of satellite
guides are referring to it as W1. W1 can be used as a satellite designator
for this satellite by programming it as a "custom satellite".
However, since there isn't a "W" button on the keypad of the
remote control, you would not be able to direct access W1, instead you
would have to press the SAT button and
cursor across to W1 and then press ENTERto
access it. Therefore, you may want to name the satellite something that
can be directly accessed. For our purposes here, let's program it as
W1.
- Move
your system to satellite S4, Ch 19 (Confirm the picture as Cornerstone
WPCB), bump the West button until you
lose the picture then stop. This is the approx location for GE-1.
Press MENU, press 6
(Program
Mode Access).
Enter the four digit code (1624, 1724 or 1824
accordingly).
- The
PROGRAM
/ INSTALL
menu will appear. Press 3 (PROGRAM
SATELLITE).
Press 1 (Add
Satellite).
Right under the ADD
SATELLITE
title should say C
BAND
(when programming a Ku-band
satellite use the C/Ku button to change
to Ku
BAND).
- Use
the RIGHT or LEFT FINE TUNE buttons to
move the arrow
to CUSTOM
SATELLITE
position. Press ENTER, use the FINE
TUNE buttons to select "W".
Press the RIGHT FINE TUNE button
once (causing the second digit to blink). Press the UP/DOWN
buttons to select 1.
Press ENTER, the format should be FORMAT:
V.
If the picture is good, clear, etc. press ENTER
and keep depressed until the display says SAT
STORED
(usually 2-4 seconds).
- If
the picture is not clear or if you do not have the correct picture
for the channel selected, press the RIGHT FINE
TUNE button until the SKEW
number is blinking. Use the Up/Down
fine tune
buttons to adjust the skew until you have a clear picture. Press CANCEL
two times. You should now be back at the Program
/ Install
menu. Turn the satellite receiver OFF, and then turn it
back ON. Use a current Satellite chart to confirm you are on
GE-1.
SAVING
A SATELLITE's ADJUSTED DISH POSITION:
All satellites require frequent antenna adjustments. To keep
from adjusting the satellite or channel each time you view it, press
MENU, 3 (PROGRAM
SATELLITES), press 4 (RECALL
SATELLITES).
The TV will now show a split screen with the satellite name and channel,
use the East or West button to move to
the correct satellite location for best picture quality. When satisfied,
press ENTER and hold until SATELLITE
STORED
displayed, press CANCEL, press ON/OFF,
then ON/OFF again.
